Death Curious Conversations

Event Details

  • 1 April 2026

  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Free

  • Rookwood General Cemetery & Crematorium

  • Join us at Rookwood Cemetery for a death curious conversation and explore all things related to death, dying and death preparedness.

Join Heartfelt Celebrancy for an intimate conversation to come together in a relaxed and respectful space and ask a Funeral Director the questions that are often left unspoken.

In this open Q&A discussion we’ll explore topics such as:

    • What actually happens when someone dies

    • Who is next of kin and why it matters

    • The practical steps involved in planning a funeral

    • What families can expect in the first hours and days after death

Bring your curiosity, questions and an open mind as we gently lift the lid on a subject that is often shrouded in secrecy.

These gatherings are designed for members of the community who want to understand more about death and dying, reduce fear around the unknown and feel more prepared for life's tender moments.

    A Death Cafe aims to:

    • Create space for open dialogue about death: Conversations help to break down the taboos and fears often associated with death and dying.
    • Promote death literacy: Talking openly about death allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of end-of-life matters and grief.
    • Encourage personal reflection: These conversations often lead to insights about life, helping people re-evaluate their priorities, relationships, and the ways they live each day.

This event is for 18+ participants. Spots are limited to ensure a safe, confidential space.

This is not a grief support session, but a safe space for curiosity and connection.

This event is facilitated by Heartfelt Celebrancy and hosted by Metropolitan Memorial Parks.
