  • Embark on a voyage through time with the Friends of Rookwood on their captivating Ships and Shipwrecks tour at Rookwood General Cemetery.

    Discover gripping tales of lives lost to the unforgiving seas and the astonishing accounts of survival against all odds along the treacherous coastlines of early colonial Australia. As you wander among historic graves, you’ll uncover the human stories behind maritime tragedy, resilience, and hope that shaped the early days of the Colony.

     

    This walking tour is hosted by Friends of Rookwood. 

     

    Important Information:

    • Enter from East Street entrance, arrive at St Michael's Chapel off William Drive at 9:30am for a 10am start.
    • This is a walking tour 
    • Bookings recommended— this is a paid event with proceeds raised by the Friends of Rookwood going towards restoration projects within the cemetery.
    • Please wear enclosed walking shoes, and bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water-bottle.
    • Please dress for the weather including sun, wind or rain.
