  • Rookwood General Cemetery

  • Experience Rookwood at dusk as we share tales of colourful characters, infamous events and 19th century garden beauty along the Serpentine Canal.

Held in the cool of the evening, this atmospheric tour invites you to experience Rookwood as dusk settles over its historic grounds. We'll wander through the Old Anglican and Catholic sections, sharing stories of some of the cemetery's most intriguing residents such as bushranger Captain Moonlite, shorthand pioneer Jacob Pitman and trailblazing feminist Louisa Lawson.

Along the way, you'll hear tales of triumph and tragedy, including a shocking murder that took place within these very grounds. As we stroll beside the tranquil Serpentine Canal, you'll glimpse the restoration work and elaborate garden designs that once made Rookwood a showcase of the 19th century landscape beauty.

Join us for an unforgettable evening where history, mystery and heritage come alive under the twilight sky.
