    • The Annual Commemoration, honours and remembers, those 862 Merchant Mariners who gave their lives for their country in WWI (184) & WWII (678). It also gives thanks to those Merchant Navy Seafarers

    In 1947 a section of the Necropolis at RGC was granted to the MNWMF by the Church of England Cemetery Trust. For more than 50 years an Annual Commemoration has been held. 

     

    The Annual Merchant Navy Commemoration at RGC is one of two Commemorations managed by the MNWMF and is held in April. The other Commemoration is in October at the National Merchant Navy War Memorial, in Kings Park, Canberra.  It is a free and private event.
